Why is it that no one remembers what a yield sign is for? When you yield the right of way to another vehicle, you are letting them go before you in the traffic situation. This is not the same as merging. So drivers of the NB on ramp at 225 and Quincy – please stop feeling obligated to letting cars in that are at the yield sign. It causes backups into the intersection, which is more harm than good. Don’t you worry, after our light turns red and we have moved forward, they will get their turn.
Speaking of driving, what is so hard about using a turn signal? Our lights are how we communicate with other drivers to what we are doing. I sat at parking lot exit waiting to turn right as cars kept coming from my left, however every one of them ended up turning into the lot before getting to me. A simple turn signal would have let me know that I could have gone… instead of waiting for 6 cars to NOT pass me.
Why can’t you wave when I let you into my lane? Just a nice quick form of common courtesy – a little wave of thank you goes a long way. It makes me feel better when you do it and hopefully it does the same when I wave a thank you back.
Whatever happened to just saying hello to someone as you pass them on the street? Now I am not talking about saying hi to everyone on 16th Street Mall – that makes you the crazy person scaring thousands of people. Say good morning to your neighbor as you both head towards your car. Is that difficult? I think not. I am tired of greeting people with a smile getting in return an ignoring, head down, and walking quickly by pretending not to notice. I promise, I don’t bite.
Anyone else tired of seeing the article headlines that say “Blah blah blah, and then this thing happened!” or “Someone did something you won’t believe what they found!”? I get it. It was a good idea originally a great way to entice people to click on the link. Now that everyone is doing it, it is just annoying. Just tell me in the article title what it is and I will happily click on it if I find it interesting. Otherwise, I just feel disappointed to find out that the “shocking thing” that was really anything but that.
Whew – I feel better now.
Oh! And last but not least… for my personal enjoyment and possibly yours
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
