It’s taken me two weeks to finally get this out, it just seems that life has been a little busy.
It is my favorite time of year as I am not a big fan of extreme temperatures, even 80 degrees is too much for me. I’m an outside but in the shade type of person, don’t even own a pair of shorts (long story). It is the perfect weather where the morning air is crisp and has just a little chill to help wake you up but by the afternoon, you have the air conditioning running on the car ride home because of the heat of the sun coming through the windows.
After what seemed like a never-ending barrage of random snow storms in the middle of April, spring has sprung! Going from drab brown to lush green! As I drove around running errands on a Saturday, I couldn’t help but smile. Colors from blooming flowers were sporadically popping up along the patches of green grass. It seemed like everyone took the opportunity to get outside and enjoy it! There were families hanging out in their front lawn, so many people ridding by on their bikes, many were the B-Cycle bikes;such an awesome program! Driving by the bigger parks, seeing kids out playing soccer or the men playing rugby or football.
Spring time also means spring cleaning for many. While I do need to attack my closet and get rid of clothing I haven’t worn in a while, I starting doing in other ways. I started with myself. I started a new job in March and have enjoyed the stress free job. Even people have noticed that I seem more “fresh” as I’m no longer mentally and physically drained. Last year I got my mental state under control, so this year I am working on the weight I gained (the fun of antidepressants, they make you happy however fat, sooooo not so happy anymore lol).
Luisa and I were chatting and decided that we were both tired of complaining. During a wonderful brunch at Jelly, she created a way to hold ourselves accountable on working out. We are both taking vacations this summer within a 7.5 week timeframe. We decided for every day of working out, we drop a marble in the jar. That marble represents $2. My vacation to Chicago comes first and will be our midway check point to see how many marbles are in the jar. Her vacation to Florida is the end of our challenge. We will take that “money” to treat ourselves to a nice dinner as we love our food (seems almost hypocritical lol). I’m using the app Lose It to track all my food and exercises.
Mom and I are also working on doing more hikes this summer. So far we’ve only been on two but enjoyed each one. Here’s some pics from this weekend. (Click on image for a larger view)
