Hope everyone had a wonderful and love filled Thanksgiving!
Mine was wonderful except for a cold I caught the day before but at least I had the aquarium with Sara to look forward to. Little did I know that our sleepover would be interrupted by my mom having to take a trip to the ER. She is ok now, but she has had random fits of uncontrollable vomiting and her doctor told her to go to an ER and get a CAT scan the next time it happened. We both laughed it off as she finally figured out a way to get rid of Thanksgiving day calories. After two and a half days in the hospital it is still undetermined but future testing will hopefully help.
Sara and I started off our day with breakfast and invited Alex along because it was his birthday. We went to Syrup in Cherry Creek and gorged on a fantastic breakfast before heading off to visit my mom in the hospital. I still laugh at my mothers sign on her door that basically said that she could have nothing to eat.
I honestly think the last time I was at the aquarium was when it first opened so I was pretty excited to go, but more excited to spend some one on one time with my niece. We spent almost four hours there checking out every aquatic animal imaginable. Below is a video of the stingrays that you can actually pet. I tried to alter it to cut down the time but my editor on my iPad wouldn’t allow it. We both enjoyed touching them but they still gave us enough of the willies that sometimes we would chicken out.
After the aquarium we went to visit Alex at the jewelry shop. We got to look around and see how he makes jewelry. I decided to end the day with a token of remembrance by buying Sara a ring from the shop. It was an amazing day and we enjoyed every minute of it. I am so lucky to have a niece like her in my life. My favorite moments are the candid, genuine conversations we have in the hour and half car ride home. I haven’t always been the best aunt to her, but my priorities in life have changed over the years and I hope to spend more time with her (and her brother Thomas after he’s done being a teenager) haha.
