BLEH…. I hate being on hormones….. while the outcome will be so worth it, the crap that you have to go through is sometimes a little ridiculous. I am currently on the Lupron Depot hormone shot for my Endometriosis. The last time I dealt with my dieses was about 6 years ago, when I had a laparoscopy to remove most of the scar tissue, they put me on Lupron after the surgery to reduce the growth of uterine tissue. I don’t remember much from the shot except for I gained 40 lbs, had some hot flashes and was irritable on occasional. But this time around, OY, its awful…. and I haven’t even hit the real menopause symptoms yet! That doesn’t come until next week (I think) when all the estrogen leaves my body. The first two weeks or so of the shot is this over surge of estrogen, where your face breaks out and you find yourself crying for no reason or over emotional about something that wouldn’t normally phase you. Or the need to eat, I wish I could stop the compulsion to shovel food down my throat… ( I have already eaten a sleeve of Thin Mint’s and that’s just the beginning). Now that my face has calmed down and I am on my period I think it is going to lay low for a week or so before the real crap hits the fan. The question is…..will I make it?! Oh and if I am having trouble sleeping now, what’s it going to be like when the menopause hits in hard? Yuck….

[…] I have no idea….well that’s not true, I know why… Back in 2002 when I did my first round with Lupron Depot, I gained weight, about 40-50 pounds worth. It took dedication, a lot of time and hard work to take […]

Hi Kristen,I’m currently going through the process of being diagnosed with endometriosis. My nurse practioner made a "preliminary" diagnosis of endometriosis, and now I have to do the whole consultation, then the laproscopy. My nurse wanted me to automatically start the horomone treatment, and I told her no, that’s the last thing I want to do. Do you really think that everything you’re going through now is really worth it? I dealt with the pelvic pain, terrible menstrual cramps and lower back pain, (plus many other things) for over 10 years now. I think at this point I’m still not sold on the this shot thing….Blog is quite helpful though for someone like me who already questions this! Thanks!
